Words Matter

One thing that people have to understand is that Words Matter. I’d like to share a few scriptures to back this up so you can gain insight on what the words you speak are so important!

1.     Proverbs 18:21 (NIV): "The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." This verse highlights the profound influence our words can have, either bringing life or causing harm.

2.     Ephesians 4:29 (NIV): "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." This verse emphasizes the importance of using our words to encourage and uplift others rather than tearing them down.

3.     Matthew 12:36-37 (NIV): "But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." These verses underscore the seriousness of the words we speak and the accountability we have for them.

4.     Proverbs 15:4 (NIV): "The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit." This verse highlights the power of our words to either bring comfort and healing or cause pain and distress.

5.     James 3:5-6 (NIV): "Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell." These verses vividly depict the potential destructive power of the tongue and the need for caution and restraint in our speech.

Overall, the Bible teaches that our words have significant consequences and urges us to use them wisely, speaking truth, encouragement, and love, while avoiding falsehood, gossip, and words that cause harm.

Moral of the story…Your Words Matter so be mindful of what you speak!
